Retreat
This year will mark the 8th Annual Student Leader Retreat at UCSB. The program has grown significantly since its inception and the strong partnership between the Associated Students and the Leadership Development Center (Office of Student Life) continues. This year, the planning committee had to face the challenge of serving a growing number of participants with a rapidly deteriorating budget. To this end, the Student Leader Retreat has been redesigned dramatically. Participants will find:
- Hundreds more spots for participants
- Renewed commitment to the values of the program: Collaboration, Leadership Development, and Student Development
- A complete program in a convenient, single-day event on campus
- No direct cost to the participants or their organizations
What Past Participants Have Said
“The retreat was a great learning experience! I am very happy I came and met so many new people from other campus groups.”
“You guys did a great job! Even though I have held a position in my club before, I think I am a much better leader now after coming. I learned so much. Thanks!”
“It was great to meet and network with not only all the student org leaders but also the leaders in Associated Students. I made some great connections that will help me and my org throughout the year.”
Who can attend?
All of the following organizations can elect at least one officer to attend (additional spaces will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis):
- Associated Students entities (executives, boards, committees and commissions)
- Campus organizations registered with the Office of Student Life
- Campus departments registered with the Office of Student Life
How much does it cost?
It’s free to participants! The retreat is supported by the AS Students’ Initiative, the Student Life Fee, generous private donations and organization registration fees.
